Panthers Close Preseason With Victory Before Opener Thursday at Texas A & M-Commerce

TULSA, Okla. - Drury University used first-half goals from junior Mandi Little and freshman Nicole Williams to post a 2-0 victory over NCAA Division I Oral Roberts on Sunday.

Keeper Jessie Sanderson, in addition to posting the shutout, picked up the assist on Little's goal, while senior Melissa Perry had the assist on the tally by Williams.

Drury's second preseason victory over a D-I opponent - including a 2-1 triumph over Missouri State - closes out the exhibition season. Oral Roberts, 8-9-3 last season, is picked fifth in the nine-team The Summit League preseason poll of league coaches.

The Panthers, defending conference champions and preseason picks for second in the 13-team Great Lakes Valley Conference,  head for Commerce, Texas on Thursday for their 4 p.m. season opener against Texas A & M-Commerce.

Coach Alf Bilbao's Panthers will open their home slate on Saturday, facing Abilene Christian in a 7 p.m. match at Harrison Stadium.

Snyder, who helped the Panthers to four straight NCAA-II national swimming and diving championships in his four years at DU, setting several NCAA distance marks along the way, was named the male recipient of the Dr. Edsel Matthews Award for his prowess as a student-athlete and representative of the Drury community.

Women's Tennis

Castrodale, a senior and four-year member of the program, helped Drury claim its third straight Great Lakes Valley Conference women's tennis championship over the weekend in St. Louis.
