A strong Drury rally in the final 10 minutes fell short as Indianapolis handed the Panthers their first loss of the season, by a 3-2 score, in Great Lakes Valley Conference men's soccer action Sunday afternoon at Harrison Stadium.
Drury, which had knocked off nationally top-ranked Northern Kentucky 3-2 in overtime on Friday, fell to 8-1-0 overall and 5-1 in GLVC play. Indianapolis improved to 4-3-2 overall and 3-1-2 in the league.
The visiting Greyhounds jumped on Drury from the start for a 3-0 advantage in the first half, as the Panthers lost starting goalkeeper Logan Hoffman in a collision on Indy's second goal, by Jon Walker, at 19:15. Redshirt freshman Stephen Conner replaced Hoffman and allowed only a goal by Indy's Micah Uemura at 41:07 the rest of the way.
The Panthers made it interesting with goals by junior Jake Allison (Taylor Stacy assist) at 82:18, and another by sophomore Danny Collins (Allison assist) at 86:10.
Indy had a 12-11 advantage in shots.
Drury returns to action on Friday with a non-league game at Newman in Wichita, Kan. The Panthers will visit GLVC rival Rockhurst for a 2:30 p.m. on Sunday in Kansas City.
