SEARCY, Ark. - Joe Rohlfing drove in four runs and Harrison Waters added three hits to help his own cause on the mound as Drury picked up a 14-4 victory over Harding in seven innings here on Tuesday.
Waters improved to 2-0 this season by allowing four runs over five innings before turning it over to Carl Teghtmyer for two hitless innings to finish as Drury improved to 5-6 on the season.
Harding fell to 8-12.
The Panthers grabbed an early lead with Jason Hall's leadoff homer to start the game, and added two runs in the second on a two-run single by R.J. Knese to lead 3-0.
The game was tied at 4-4 entering the fifth when the Panthers erupted for seven runs in the inning, keyed by a bases-clearing, three-run triple by Rohlfing, and added three more in the sixth on a Hall RBI single, a Rohlfing fielder's choice and a wild pitch.
Drury had 14 hits for the contest, with Rohlfing, Hall and Tyler Goss picking up two each. Hall scored three times while Rohlfing, Waters, Dane Hughes and freshmen Maury Wilmes and Chris Barratt crossed the plate twice each.
Knese had three RBIS and Hall drove home a pair for the Panthers.
The Panthers return to action on Thursday, playing host to Wayne State in a single nine-inning game at 5 p.m. at Meador Park. Drury then hosts Wayne State again at 6 p.m. Friday at Meador as part of the three-day Heffington Optical Invitational, which for the Panthers also includes games at 6 p.m. Saturday against Bemidji State and at 5 p.m. Sunday against Washburn.
