Mike Blakeslee graduated from Drury on August 15, 1987 with a degree in business administration. Mike still holds the record for most games played in a Drury career, playing in 134 games from 1983-1987. He played in every game for four years and he was a major reason the Panthers were 99-35 during that four-year stretch, qualified for post- season play all four years, and twice advanced to the NAIA national tournament. The 99 victories he played in is also a Drury record. Mike was not the player his head coach, Drury Hall of Famer Marvin Walker, turned to for points since teammates like Drury Hall of Famers Chuck Allen, Tom Deffebaugh, Marc Ridlen and Ted Young did much of that. Nonetheless, Mike is 26th on the Drury all-time scoring list with 1,091 career points. The 6'5" athletic forward was the player his team turned to defend the other team's top offensive threat....and he took that challenge personally. Along the way he scored, as mentioned, over 1,000 points, grabbed 630 rebounds (which is 17th on the all-time rebound list) and committed 369 fouls, the most in Drury history. He took every game, all 134, personally and because of his work ethic and athletic ability the Panthers were 24-8 in 1984: 26-10 in 1985; 25-10 in 1986; and, 24-7 in 1987. The 1985 team made it to the quarterfinals of the NAIA national tournament after disposing of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and their consensus All- American and future NBA great, Terry Porter. Mike came to Drury from Springfield Kickapoo High School where was a standout in basketball, football, golf and tennis.
