Drury University Athletics

Steve Sheppard is the first golfer to be inducted into the Hall. Sheppard, a Springfield native, led Drury to two MCAU golf titles and two trips to the NAIA national tournament, with the team finishing 22nd and 25th in the nation. Sheppard made the cut in both national tournaments. While at Drury he was also a member of the Springfield Horton Smith Cup team, won the District Championship twice and was the co-medalist in the 1970 Missouri State Amateur shooting 72, 68 at Twin Oaks (edging Tom Watson, 143). Steve graduated from Drury on May 31, 1970 magna cum laude and received departmental distinction honors in economics and sociology.
