Tomas Kuzvard came to Drury from the Czech Republic and turned in one of the most prolific careers in the history of DU's storied swimming & diving program. He helped the Panthers to an NCAA-II national championship in every season of his career from 2005-2009.
Kuzvard earned All-American honors 21 times and won nine NCAA-II championships. He was a two-time national champ in the 200 Individual Medley and also took the championship in the 200 Backstroke, the 400 Individual Medley, and he was on five national championship relay teams.
Kuzvard received Drury's Dr. Edsel Matthews Award in 2009 for career excellence in athletics and academics - the highest honor bestowed to a Drury student-athlete.
Following his career at Drury, he served as a graduate assistant coach with the Panthers, spent a year as an assistant coach at Ohio Northern. Kuzvard was the head coach at the University of Missouri-St. Louis before moving to the Ann Arbor, Michigan, Parks & Recreation Department.
