ROLLA – The Drury Softball Panthers rolled over Missouri S&T 12-0 in the opener before falling 4-0 in the nightcap to earn a GLVC road split at Missouri S&T on Tuesday.
Drury is now 11-17 and 4-10 GLVC and Missouri S&T moves to 2-19 overall and 1-14 GLVC.
The Panthers came alive in the top of the second inning of the opener to score 10 runs on seven hits and three errors in an inning that included an RBI single by
Kari Hillenburg, a pair of RBI doubles by
Carson Forge and
Rachael Michaelis and a two RBI triple to cap off the explosive inning by
Jordan Herman.
Chantal Oelrich hit her third homer in the last three games with a two run shot in the third to plate Forge and make it 12-0 Drury.
Oelrich finished with two hits, two RBIs and scored two runs and
Shelby Weissenbach had two hits and scored two runs in the Panthers 11 hit opener.
Jessica Kjeldgaard (6-8) earned the win for the Panthers and allowed four hits with Kati Viets (1-10) receiving the loss for the Miners.
In the nightcap the Miners got on the board with an RBI triple in the bottom of the third and scored three runs on three hits in the fourth coming on a sacrifice fly and a two run homer by Ashley Rausch for a 4-0 win.
Hillenburg had all three hits in the nightcap for the Panthers with Missouri S&T finishing with six hits.
Kjeldgaard received the loss for the Panthers with Becca Strope (1-4) getting the win for S&T.
Drury will host Rockhurst in GLVC action at Thompson Field on Friday with action starting at 1 p.m.
