BOLIVAR – The Drury Softball Panthers claimed a non-conference Tuesday road sweep at Southwest Baptist 6-0 and 2-1.
Drury improved to 16-24 on the year and Southwest Baptist falls to 18-25.
Carson Forge hit a two run homer her 10
th of the season in the opening inning to give Drury an early 2-0 lead. Forge went yard again with a three run shot in the third to make it 5-0 Drury and
Rachael Michaelis singled to plate
Chantal Oelrich for a 6-0 Drury lead after three. Forge is just two homers shy of career leader Sadie Ball who had 19.
Drury finished with nine hits led by Forge who had five RBIs with two hits and two runs and
Kari Hillenburg who had two hits and scored two runs. Southwest Baptist finished with six hits.
Jessica Kjeldgaard (10-11) earned the win with three strikeouts and Kacey Ayers (8-12) received the loss for the Bearcats.
In the nightcap Drury scored in the second inning on RBI single by Hillenburg to score
Alyssa Sargent. Southwest Baptist tied it up in the bottom of the fourth with a homer. Oelrich came through with an RBI single in the sixth inning to score
Marissa Ross for the game winning run and a 2-1 Panther victory.
Drury finished with 13 hits and held the Bearcats to just three.
Shelby Weissenbach (6-10) earned the win for the Panthers with Kyra Parker (8-9) receiving the loss for SBU.
Drury will return to Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Saturday when they host Illinois-Springfield at noon at Thompson Field.
