Drury and Missouri State will resume their crosstown swimming rivalry on Thursday when the Panthers and Bears hook up for their annual "Duel In The Pool" meet at DU's Breech Pool.
Action between the NCAA-II Panthers and Division I Bears will begin at 6 p.m. in the men's and women's meet, to be televised again on a tape-delay basis by Mediacom Connections 22. It can also be seen live in a free webcast at drurypanthers.com/watch. (Mediacom replays to run Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., Sunday at 1 p.m.).
After a victory in their fall matchup at the Hammons Student Center on the MSU campus by a 135-87 score, the Bears now lead the men's all-time series with DU by a 16-15 count, while the Drury women hold a 14-5 advantage after falling 150-87 to the Bears in mid-October at the HSC.
Wen Xu won the 50 and 100 races and
Rebekah Laupp captured the 3-meter diving board in the fall meeting to lead the DU women's squad's efforts, while victories by
Rodrigo Caceres in the 50 Free,
Daniel Rzadkowski in the 100 free and
Ethan Okazaki in both diving events highlighted the performance by the Drury men.
The Panthers, national runners-up in D-II last season and two-time defending Great Lakes Valley Conference champions on both sides, will also host nationally 10th-ranked (D-I) Missouri in a 5 p.m. start on Friday - including pre-meet Senior Night festivities for the Panthers - Â to kick off its first action of the second semester.
Drury is ranked No. 2 on the women's side and No. 5 with the men nationally by collegeswimming.com and No. 3 with the women and No. 6 for the men by the CSCAA (College Swimming Coaches Association of America).
