SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Drury women's swimming and diving team won their first meeting of the season with Missouri State in a 131-100 victory on Saturday at Hammons Student Center. The Panthers men's squad lost their dual with the Bears 143-73.
In the 1000 yard Free, Ella Bryan and Megan Ouhl finished first and second. Bryan won the event by seven seconds with a time of 10:30.61 while her teammate was second at 10:37.53. Erica Dahlgren took the 200 yard Free with a time of 1:53.14 and the 500 yard Free in 5:04.54. Wen Xu finished first in the 50 yard Free posting a time of 23.49 and the 100 yard Free in 51.30. Freshman Bailee Nunn won three events taking the 200 yard Breast (2:15.30), 200 yard Fly (2:02.61), the 200 yard IM (2:05.77). Katya Rudenko won the 200 yard Back with a time of 2:02.61. The Panthers also won the 400 yard medley relay.
The Drury men's team also won the 400 yard medley relay and got first place finishes from Konrad Stepien in the 200 yard Free (1:41.12) and the 500 yard Free (4:37.10). Kim Jun Han was second place in the 200 yard IM (1:52.24) and the 200 yard Fly where his 1:47.92 time was .07 off of the winning pace.
Both Drury squads get a rematch with Missouri State later this season. The second Dual in the Pool battle with the Bears is on Drury's campus on Jan. 19.
Drury swimming & diving will host event next weekend for their next competition. Both the men's and women's squads will be at the Breech Pool on Friday and Saturday for the Drury Invitational meet. Action begins at 5 p.m. on Friday.
