ROLLA – The Drury baseball Panthers earned a GLVC split winning the nightcap 4-0 after falling 4-2 in the opener at Missouri S&T on Saturday.
Drury is now 9-16 overall and 1-3 in the GLVC and Missouri S&T is 16-7 overall and 3-1 in the GLVC.
In the nightcap the game remained scoreless until the Panther fifth when
Ryan Kayhill hit a two run homer to plate
Justin Abernathy and give the Panthers a 2-0 lead. Abernathy scored on a balk in the eighth and
Ryan Wadkins singled to score
Ryan Kayhill to make it a 4-0 Drury win.
Drury finished with eight hits with Abernathy having three hits and scoring two runs. Kayhill finished with two runs, two hits and two RBIs. Missouri S&T had five hits.
Austin Simms (3-2) earned the win and posted five strikeouts with Ryan Bearden (1-2) getting the loss.
In the opener the Miners used an RBI double and an RBI single in the first inning for an early 2-0 advantage. Drury tied it up in the fourth on an RBI single by
Devan O'Bryan to score
John Goodrich and an RBI single by Abernathy to plate O'Bryan. S&T would go back on top 3-2 in the bottom half of the fourth on an RBI single.
S&T added a run in the fifth on a passed ball.
Wadkins and O'Bryan each had two hits for the Panthers who finished with seven hits. S&T finished with six hits and was led by Eli Miller and Collin Zurweller who each had two hits.
Aaron Bedsworth (4-2) earned the win for S&T and
Luke Burnidge (1-4) received the loss for the Panthers.
The Drury baseball Panthers will continue GLVC road series action at Truman State on April 2 at noon in Kirskville.
