SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Country music recording artist and former Drury men's basketball player Matt Stell will perform at the team's annual fundraising golf tournament, the Marty Ross Invitational on Monday, Aug. 22 at the Millwood Golf and Racquet Club.
Stell played for the Panthers from 2002-06 and averaged 9.8 points and 4.9 rebounds in his senior season. He was a part of several NCAA-II tournament teams, including a 2004 team that was a regional finalist in the Sweet 16. Stell graduated from Drury in 2006 with a religion and philosophy degree and also has a Master's degree in Rhetoric from the University of Arkansas.
The Center Ridge, Arkansas native has toured for several years opening for major country performers Luke Bryan, the Eli Young Band and Eric Church. Stell performed at the O'Reilly Family Event Center in June of 2012 when he opened for Josh Turner. Stell has a project due for release later this year.

The men's basketball golf tournament, named the Marty Ross Invitational in memory of long-time booster Marty Ross, starts at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 22. Golfers not registered for the event are still invited to attend, make a contribution to Drury men's basketball and catch former Panther and recording artist Matt Stell perform.
