SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury poured in 61 second-half points in a 101-81 win over Minnesota State-Moorhead on Friday at the O'Reilly Family Event Center on the first day of the DoubleTree by Hilton Thanksgiving Classic.
The Panthers raised their record to 3-1 and dropped the Dragons to 2-3.
Drury had a 40-35 lead at halftime, then hit 65 percent of their shots in the second half connecting on 20 of 31 attempts. The Panthers outscored MSU-Moorhead 61-46 in the second half.
"It was a good win and this looked a lot more like what we try to do than how we played last week," said Drury head coach
Steve Hesser. "We only had eight turnovers and that was something we really emphasized during the week."
Isaac Johnson led the Panthers with 19 points. The sophomore from Springfield-Kickapoo went 6 for 6 from the free throw line and hit three three-pointers. Andrew Ballock had 14 points to go with seven assists and
John Williams chipped in with 12 points.
Evan Hines had 17 points and six rebounds to lead MSU-Moorhead.
Drury shot 57 percent from the field in the game going 35 for 62. The Panthers were 11 for 26 from outside the three-point arc and went 20 for 25 from the foul line.
Drury hosts Lincoln tomorrow at 3:15 p.m. for the second day of the DoubleTree by Hilton Thanksgiving Classic. Action starts at 1 p.m. with William Jewell against MSU-Moorhead.
