Lady Panthers open the season in Nashville
The seventh-ranked Drury Lady Panthers open the 2017-18 season in the Pops Duncan Classic hosted by Trevecca Nazarene in Nashville, Tennessee. Drury brings back three starters and seven letter winners from a team that went 30-4, 17-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, won the league title and advanced to the NCAA-II Midwest Regional finals last year.

Drury will play the host team, Trevecca Nazarene on Friday, then take on Walsh on Saturday afternoon. Trevecca Nazarene went 7-18 last season while the Cavaliers won 20 games going 20-9 in 2016-17.

The Lady Panthers started the year with wins in both of their exhibition games. They defeated Columbia, ranked 16th in NAIA-I, 95-63 on Oct. 29 and Lindenwood-Belleville, ranked #24 in NAIA-I, 98-61. Trevecca Nazarene lost an exhibition to NCAA-I Middle Tennessee St. 88-41 on Nov. 2 and defeated Mount Vernon Nazarene (NAIA) 57-51 on Nov. 4. Walsh played one exhibition game and beat NCAA-I Ohio University 82-66 on Nov. 4.

Drury was in the same event last year and went 2-0 as they edged Kentucky Wesleyan 75-72 in overtime and defeated Trevecca Nazarene 94-59.

The Lady Panthers are 2-0 all-time against the Trojans and their game with Walsh will be the first meeting ever between the two programs.

Following this weekend's event, the Lady Panthers take on Southwest Baptist in the annual Bank of Bolivar Highway 13 Catfight. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m. in Bolivar.
