ROLLA – Missouri S&T surrendered only two runs on the day to earn a GLVC sweep, 3-1 and 2-1, over the Drury softball Panthers on Wednesday.
Drury now sits at 17-24, 5-13 in the league, and Missouri S&T is now 17-22, 9-9 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
In the opener, S&T singled to score an early run in the second frame, before Drury pulled even in the fifth, when Panther catcher

Carley Hamann singled up the middle in the sixth to give the Miners the run they needed for a 2-1 victory.
Michaelis went 2 for 3 and scored a run for the Panthers, who had five hits off winner Avery English (8-11). English had four strikeouts and walked none in a complete game win.
Jessica Kjeldgaard (9-13) fanned five Miners in six innings, and allowed seven hits.
In the nightcap, Drury had some chances early, but could not capitalize like they wanted to, leaving three runners on base in the second and third innings. The Panthers were able to score a run in the third, when senior shortstop

Destiny Bolen (8-11) kept the Miners off the board until the fifth inning, when S&T scored on an RBI single up the middle to tie it up. Missouri S&T was able to get an RBI sacrifice fly in the sixth, and Kati Viets (9-10) hung on for the win.
Viets allowed just three hits, with Hillenburg going 2 for 3 with an RBI for Drury. Monica Weiss went 2 for 2 for the Miners, who finished with six hits.
Drury will continue GLVC road action Friday, when they travel to Maryville for a 12 p.m. start.
