Lady Panthers extend winning streak to seven with 72-48 win at Maryville

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Drury Lady Panthers held Maryville to 33 percent shooting from the field as Drury won their seventh straight game with a 72-48 win at Moloney Arena in St. Louis on Saturday.

The eighth-ranked Lady Panthers improved to 22-2 and 13-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. With the win, Drury clinched at least a tie for the West Division championship with four games remaining in the regular season.

Maryville dropped to 7-14 and 4-11 in the league.

"I think we weathered that storm of not being able to hit a shot," said Drury head coach Molly Miller. "It was good to see our girls lock down defensively."

The Lady Panthers led 29-19 at halftime, but Alice Heinzler sparked their offense in the second half. 17 of Heinzler's game-high 22 points came after the intermission as the senior from Republic went 8 for 13 from the field and 6 for 11 from three-point range.

Hailey Diestelkamp added 13 points for Drury while Payton Richards chipped in with 11 off of the bench.

Drury held Maryville to just 16 made shots as the Saints went 16 for 49 from the field. The Lady Panthers were 29 for 61 and shot 48 percent from the floor.

Ellen Foster had a double-double for the Saints scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Drury returns home for their next game as they host Lewis on Thursday at 5:45 p.m. at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
