Panthers travel to Maryville in showdown of division leaders
Drury faces Maryville in a battle of division leaders in the Great Lakes Valley Conference on Saturday in St. Louis. Tipoff is at 3 p.m. in Moloney Arena.
The Panthers are 17-4, 10-3 in the GLVC and they are in first place in the West Division. Drury picked up their fifth straight win on Thursday with an 83-67 win at Rockhurst. The Panthers own a one-game lead in the division over Truman State.
Maryville leads the Central Division and brings an overall record of 17-6 as well as a 9-5 league mark into Saturday's match-up. The Saints have lost three of their last five, but they won at home on Thursday, 83-81, against Lewis. Each of Maryville's three recent losses has been by a single possession: a 75-74 loss at home to Truman State, a 61-59 defeat at Southern Indiana, and a 77-76 loss at Indianapolis. Maryville is 12-1 at home this season.
Drury is 15-1 all-time against the Saints with their only loss in the series coming at Maryville on Feb. 9, 2012, in a 73-55 setback. The Panthers went 2-0 against MU last season.
Saturday's game ends a three-game road stint for the Panthers. Next week, they return home to take on Lewis on Thursday for a 7:45 p.m. game at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
