Lady Panthers open GLVC tournament vs McKendree
The Drury Lady Panthers open the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament in the quarterfinals against McKendree on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Vadalabene Center in Edwardsville, Illinois.

Drury is the top seed on the bracket and ended the regular season with a 26-2 record overall and a 17-1 mark in the GLVC. The Lady Panthers won the West Division title for the fifth year in a row and it was their 11th division crown in 13 seasons as a conference member. Drury comes into the tournament with an 11-game winning streak.

McKendree is the eighth seed in the tournament and brings an overall record of 12-13. The Bearcats were 8-10 in the GLVC and finished second in the Central Division. McKendree has won three straight entering the postseason.

The Lady Panthers won the earlier meeting this season with a 75-57 win on Dec. 2 at the O'Reilly Family Event Center. Hailey Diestelkamp led Drury with 16 points and Lucia Fernandez had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds in the game. Sydney Diekoff had 15 points to lead McKendree.

The winner of Thursday's game will advance to the semifinals at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday to the play the winner of 4th seeded Missouri-St. Louis and 5th seeded Bellarmine. The championship game is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.

Drury is 18-8 all-time in the GLVC tournament and have won four championships. The Lady Panthers are the defending champs in the tournament and last year defeated Maryville, Bellarmine and Lewis on their way to the title. Drury captured the league championship in 2017, 2015, 2010 and 2008. The Lady Panthers also won two Heartland Conference championships winning in 2004 and 2005.
