Panthers look to ground Flyers
Drury plays their second home game this week as they host the Lewis Flyers on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the O'Reilly Family Event Center.

The Panthers are 7-8, 1-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and lost their third straight nail-biter on Thursday in a 71-70 loss at home to Indianapolis. Last week, Drury lost 82-81 at William Jewell and 62-60 at Rockhurst. Each of the Panthers last four losses have been by two points or less, and in all four contests, free throws by Drury opponents have provided the game-winning points in the final five seconds of regulation.

Lewis is 10-2, 3-1 in the GLVC and is coming off of a 73-58 win at Missouri S&T on Thursday. The Flyers are receiving votes in the NCAA-II coaches' poll with their only two losses coming on Nov. 11 at Northern Michigan 77-59, and at home to Truman State 75-66 on Jan. 3.

Drury leads the all-time series against Lewis 11-4, but the Flyers have won the last two games, both played in Springfield including last year's 72-53 win in the O'Reilly Family Event Center.

Following Saturday's game, the Panthers are back on the road as they take on McKendree on Thursday, 7:30 p.m. in Lebanon, Illinois.

Notes To Know
--Thursday's defeat was Drury's fourth one-point loss this season.
--Drury's defense ranks behind only number-one ranked Bellarmine in points allowed (67.5) in the GLVC, and they lead the league in field goal defense (.407).
--None of Drury's eight losses have been by more than six points and their worst loss, a 68-62 defeat against fourth-ranked West Texas A&M, came in overtime.
