Drury opens GLVC schedule with Highway 13 Catfight against Southwest Baptist
The Drury Panthers open the Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule on Tuesday against Southwest Baptist as the Highway 13 Catfight turns into a league match-up. SBU is in its first year as a GLVC member and meets Drury for the first of two scheduled games this season. The Bearcats will host the Panthers on Jan. 20 in Bolivar.
Â
Drury is 5-0 entering Tuesday's game and coming off of a pair of wins in the DoubleTree Thanksgiving Classic last weekend. The Panthers defeated Southern Arkansas 66-58 on Friday and followed with an 89-64 win over Rogers State on Saturday.
Â
Southwest Baptist is off to a 5-1 start. The Bearcats won their last contest with a 74-71 victory over Fort Hays State in Kansas City. SBU started the year in Nashville, joining Drury in the Trevecca Classic and picked up a win over Trevecca Nazarene 64-45, and a loss against Lake Superior State, 85-77.
Â
Drury leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 39-18 and has won seven straight against SBU. The Panthers won last year's game 85-75 at the O'.
Â
After Tuesday's game, Drury is idle until Dec. 14 when they host Central Christian for a 7 pm game at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
