Panthers and Tritons collide on Overflow Day
The two teams with the longest active winning streaks in the Great Lakes Valley Conference collide on Saturday as Drury hosts the University of Missouri-St. Louis for Overflow the O' at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
Â
Drury has won four straight and carries a 13-10 record with a 7-5 mark in the GLVC into Saturday's match-up. The Panthers are coming off of an 80-52 win over Maryville on Thursday and, for the third game in a row, held their opponent to fewer than 59 points.Â
Â
The Tritons have won six straight and extended their winning streak with a 76-63 win at Missouri S&T on Thursday. UMSL is 18-4, 9-3 in the conference, and, after Bellarmine's second loss of the year on Thursday, moved onto the heels of the third-ranked Knights in the league standings. The Tritons have their best record through 22 games since the 1971-72 season when they finished 21-6.
Â
The Panthers lead the all-time series 23-7 and have won the last 10 straight meetings but four those games have been decided in overtime. Drury won the lone game between the two teams last year, 102-69, on Nov. 30, 2017, in Springfield.
Â
Drury returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 16 when they travel to Rolla to face Missouri S&T for a 3 p.m. game in Gibson Arena.
Â
