Hailey Diestelkamp named the NCAA-II Player of the Year by the WBCA

COLUMBUS, Ohio— Drury forward Hailey Diestelkamp has been named the NCAA-II Player of the Year by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. The WBCA announced their awards at the NCAA-II Elite Eight banquet on Monday night in Columbus, Ohio.

Hailey Diestelkamp leads the number one ranked and 34-0 Drury Lady Panthers in scoring and rebounding averaging 21 points to go with 8.9 rebounds per game. The junior from Owensville, Missouri is also posting a shooting percentage of .521, and her 112 steals are tied for second-most in the nation.

Already this postseason, Diestelkamp has been named a First Team NCAA-II All-American by the WBCA, the Most Valuable Player of the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament and the MVP of the NCAA-II Midwest Regional tournament. She was also a unanimous selection as a First Team All-GLVC performer.

During 2018-19, Diestelkamp set Drury's all-time rebounding record and has 850 career boards entering their national quarterfinal game on Tuesday. She also broke Drury's single-season scoring record and brings 714 points into Tuesday's game, and she needs only 11 rebounds to set another single-season mark in that category.

Diestelkamp has put up 14 double-doubles this season and the only triple-double in program history with a 21-point, 10-rebound, and 10-steal performance against Indianapolis on Jan. 10. She earned GLVC Player of the Week honors four times during the year and was the NCAA-II Player of the Week during the week of Jan. 7-13.

The number one ranked Lady Panthers take on eighth-seeded Nova Southeastern on Tuesday at 5 pm (Central) in the NCAA-II Elite Eight quarterfinals in Columbus, Ohio. The game will be broadcast live on JOCK 98.7 FM and www.ncaa.com/live.
