SPRINGFIELD – The Drury softball Panthers dropped a GLVC pair vs. UMSL, falling in the opener 4-3 and dropping the nightcap 5-3 in extra innings on Sunday at Thompson Field.
Drury moved to 34-21, 12-14 GLVC and Maryville improved to 31-17, 20-6 GLVC.

Devin Hale in the Panther third to even the score then UMSL to push back ahead 2-1 in the top of the fourth.
Drury went on top 3-2 with back to back walks in the bottom of the sixth Hale and Tersteeg. UMSL's Reagan Osborn had the game winning hit with a two out RBI single to plate two Tritons in the top of the seventh.
UMSL's Corinne Daly went 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs to lead the Tritons who outhit the Panthers 7-6. Casey Kazares (14-5) received the loss and Andee Tiffee (14-4) earned the win for UMSL.
In the nightcap, Drury was the first to strike and crossed runs in the opening frame on an RBI single by
Megan Holmes and an error that made it a 2-0 Drury advantage. UMSL struggled in the second frame as they loaded the bases and walked
Hailly Greenough to extend the Panther lead to 3-0.
A solo shot by UMSL's Andee Tiffee in the top of the sixth got the Tritons on the board and UMSL followed up by scoring two runs on three hits in the top of the seventh to even the score. After a scoreless eighth inning, UMSL drove home a run on a single up the middle in the ninth to claim the 4-3 win.
Greenough (6-9) received the loss and Carly Kingery (15-10) earned the win. UMSL outhit the Panthers by an 11-7 tally.
The Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament will be May 2-4 in East Peoria, Illinois.
