MANOA, Hawaii– The Drury men's and women's swimming & diving teams returned to action in Hawaii this week. The DU men's team fell to the University of Hawaii 144-61 in a dual while the Panthers women's team lost to Wisconsin 185.5-52.2 and to Hawaii 150-87.5 in a triangular meet.
Men's Highlights
Drury junior Pavel Semochkin won an event for the Panthers as he took first in the 100 Butterfly. The native of St. Petersburg, Russia, had a time of 48.26 to win by 0.01 seconds.
Semochkin was also second in the 100 Breaststroke (55.30), while roster newcomer Andrea Bergoglio was fourth (56.84).
Freshman Alex Flores was second in the 1000 Freestyle (9:41.56) while Eric Vandergraaf was third (9:47.34). In the 500 Free, Vandergraaf came in third (4:42.90) while Flores was fourth (4:42.90).
Jan Rasmussen gave the Panthers a third-place finish in the 200 Free (1:42.33) while Andrew Rodriguez was second in the 200 Individual Medley (1:53.72).
Aidan Glynn came in third in the 50 Free (21.02) while Kham Glass was third in the 100 Backstroke (51.90).
Women's Highlights
The Panthers had a 2-3 finish in the 1000 Freestyle as Erica Dahlgren came in second (10:16.18), and Allison Weber was third (10:19.51).
Drury was second, and third again in the 50 Free as Yasmin Preusse (23.78) was edged for the win by 0.03 seconds while roster newcomer Kasia Rogowska was third (23.85). Preusse returned for a third-place in the 100 Free with a time of 52.44.
Sophomore Laura Pareja tied for second in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 56.38.
Makenzie Harris was third in the 200 Freestyle (1:53.76), while Bec Cross also had a third-place finish in the 200 Individual Medley (2:05.33).
Drury senior Bailee Nunn was a medical scratch for the event.
Both Drury teams return to action on Jan. 18 in a triangular at Arkansas against the Razorbacks and Oklahoma Baptist.
