SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The Drury Panthers opened Great Lakes Valley Conference competition with a 33-8 win over Ouachita Baptist on Friday at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
 
After neither side fielded a wrestler at 125 pounds, Drury took a commanding lead early as 133-pounder Jake Byrd won by Fall in 26 seconds and nationally ranked Peter Kuster earned a win by Technical Fall over Alex Thyes at 141 pounds.
 
Ben Stahlman (157 pounds) outlasted Adrian Salazar-Rivera 3-0, then Alex Garrett took a Major Decision over Ben Parkhurst 11-2 in the 165-pound division.
 
The Panthers got back-to-back wins by Fall at 174 and 184 pounds as Logan Zimmerman pinned his opponent in 3:29, then Charley Genisio needed just 12 seconds to pick up his win.
 
Heavyweight Jared Rennick capped Drury's night with a 10-4 win over Johnny Green.
 
The Panthers are back on the mat on Jan. 25 when they host McKendree in a GLVC dual at Weiser Gym starting at 4 pm.
