RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.— Drury University's
Cole Breeden and
Cameron Smith won the AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open, and another Panthers fishing team finished in the top five last weekend at Lake Dardanelle near Russellville, Arkansas last weekend.
Breeden, a junior from Lebanon, and Smith, a native of Ozark in his senior season, took first-place in a field of 148 boats. The duo landed a two-day total of 26.52 pounds of fish, with more than 19 pounds caught on day one of the competition. Breeden and Smith won the event with nearly two more pounds landed than second-place finishers, Matt Baker and Kory England, from Arkansas Tech.
Beau Browning and
Brock Bila finished in fifth place for Drury in the event. The two landed 21.73 pounds in the tournament and were one of only six boats that caught more than 20 pounds during the two days on Lake Dardanelle.
Jacob Welch and
Lee Lambrecht came in 27
th (12.66 pounds),
Hunter Baird and Jake Rankin finished 42
nd (9.28), and
Cole Godwin and
Dylan Chambers were 112
th (1.66).
The Carhartt Bassmaster College Series presented by Bass Pro Shops continues Oct. 29-31 with the National Championship Tournament at the Harris Chain of Lakes in Florida.
