Lady Panthers open 2020-21 season at Missouri-St. Louis on Friday
The Drury Lady Panthers start the 2020-21 season on Friday with a 1 pm game at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. The game is the season opener for both teams.
Â
Drury is coming off of a season that saw them go 32-0, 20-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, a GLVC tournament championship, and they ended the year ranked number one in NCAA-II. The Lady Panthers were scheduled to host the first three rounds of the NCAA-II tournament in the Midwest Regional, but the national championship was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Â
UMSL went 16-13 last year and 11-9 in the GLVC. The Tritons did not make the conference tournament.
Â
The two teams played one another just once last year, with the Lady Panthers winning 91-58 on Jan. 9 at the O'Reilly Family Event Center. Drury has won 29 of their 30 games against the Tritons.
Â
Following Friday's game, the Lady Panthers return to action on Sunday at Lindenwood for a 1 pm game in St. Charles, Missouri.
Â
Streaks
The Drury Lady Panthers have several significant winning streaks active as they start 2020-21:
-- 32 straight wins overall (dating back to March 27, 2019, in the NCAA-II semifinals vs. Lubbock Christian)
-- 66 straight regular season wins (dating back to Jan. 18, 2018, at Bellarmine)
-- 49 straight GLVC regular season wins (dating back to Jan. 18, 2018, at Bellarmine)
-- 54 straight home wins, second-longest home-court winning streak in NCAA-II trailing only Lubbock Christian, who has won 78 in a row at home (DU's streak dates back to Nov. 26, 2016, in a 74-59 loss to #2 Emporia State)
-- 23 straight road wins, the longest such streak in D-II and one ahead of Ashland's 22-game road winning streak

Amy Eagan Era Begins
Amy Eagan enters her first weekend as head coach of the Drury Lady Panthers. She served as an assistant coach at Drury last year, helping the Lady Panthers to a 32-0 record. Eagan was named to the helm on April 13, 2020 following the departure of Molly Miller, who left after six seasons to become the head coach at Grand Canyon (NCAA-I).
Â
Eagan is the fifth different head coach in the program's 20-year history. She has previously served as head coach at Truman State, Ashford, and St. Ambrose, in addition to a stint as an assistant at Quincy.
Â
In addition to taking over as head coach, Eagan added new assistant coaches to her staff. Former Lady Panthers guard
Addy Roller joins the coaching staff from Pittsburg State, and
Jordan Mellott was also brought on board after working as an assistant at Adams State.
Â
Graduate assistant
Julia Wells returned for her second season at Drury.
