Robinson's triple-double lifts Lady Panthers past Missouri S&T

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.-- Paced by another strong early-season showing by Paige Robinson, the Drury Lady Panthers rolled past the Miners of Missouri S&T, 97-74 at the O'Reilly Family Event Center Friday night, winning their 38th game in a row.

Robinson, a junior from Bethany, Illinois, posted a triple-double on the evening, pouring in 22 points, while pulling down 11 rebounds and handing out a program-tying record 11 assists and for good measure added four steals, giving her one of the most complete game efforts ever for a Lady Panther. Her triple-double was only the second such feat in program history. Hailey Diestelkamp recorded one during her junior season on Jan. 10, 2019, against Indianapolis with 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 steals.

"Paige knew heading into this year that she had to take on a lot of things because of the talent we lost last season," said Amy Eagan, Drury women's head coach.  "But one of the great things about Paige is that she wants that role, and it's a hard role to have.  But she wants that and thrives at it."

A highly competitive first quarter saw the visiting Miners move in front of Drury 19-15 midway through the period, but the Lady Panthers found another gear and outscored S&T 18-7 to close the quarter, then would limit them to just six points in the second quarter en route to a commanding 57-32 lead at halftime.

"We went through a lot of that sort of thing last year, and I would like our mindset to change a little," added Eagan.  "Because to separate ourselves from teams, we can't just wait until the second quarter or later to get going."

Senior Azia Lynch shared game scoring honors with Robinson, as she also dropped in 22 points on 10 of 14 shooting from the field. Seniors Kelsey Winfrey and Emily Parker contributed 13 and 11 points respectively for the Lady Panthers, who move to 6-0 overall as well as in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

Laura Rodriguez took scoring honors for Missouri S&T with 23 points as the Miners dropped to 1-5 overall and in GLVC action.

In addition to the win giving Drury 38 straight victories, it also runs their string of regular season wins to 72 in a row, as well as 56 consecutive home wins and now 55 straight wins in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

The Lady Panthers are now idle through the holidays and will return to action on Jan. 3 when they host Maryville University in a 1 pm contest at the O'Reilly Family Events Center.
