Drury hosts Lewis in pivotal GLVC match-up
The Drury Panthers host the Lewis Flyers in a key Great Lakes Valley Conference game on Thursday at 7:45 pm in the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
Â
Drury is 13-7, 6-6 in the GLVC, and is coming off of a 76-65 win at home over Maryville on Saturday. The Panthers are tied for eighth in the league in win-loss percentage.
Â
Lewis is the defending GLVC regular season champions and is 10-10 with a 5-7 conference mark entering Thursday's game. The Flyers have lost three straight and five of their last seven. Their last three games, however, have been against teams ranked in the top 25 as they fell to #15 UMSL 77-63 on Jan. 25, 87-77 to #22 Indianapolis last week, and 77-60 to #8 Bellarmine on Saturday.
Â
Entering Thursday's game, there are seven teams within two games of one another between sixth place and 12th place in the GLVC. Both Drury and Lewis are in that mix with the Panthers tied for eighth and the Flyers in a three-way tie for 10th.
Â
The Panthers lead the all-time series against Lewis 13-4 and won both games last year, winning 93-54 at home and 69-67 in overtime in the GLVC semifinals.
Â
The Panthers are back at home on Saturday as they host Illinois Springfield for Overflow the O' presented by O'Reilly Auto Parts. Tipoff against the Prairie Stars is at 3 pm.
Â
