Drury looks to snap three-game slide at Maryville
The Drury Panthers return to action on Saturday as they take on Maryville for a 3:15 pm game in St. Louis, Missouri.
Â
The Panthers are 5-6 and will be aiming to snap a three-game losing streak. Drury lost back-to-back games to Southwest Baptist on Jan. 21 and 26, then fell by a point at Missouri S&T, 67-66, on Thursday.
Â
Maryville has also lost three straight and enters Saturday's contest 5-9. The Saints fell at home to Southwest Baptist 70-54 on Thursday. Among Maryville's five wins is a 90-83 victory over Truman State, who was ranked seventh nationally at the time, on Dec. 31.
Â
Drury has won 20 of the 22 meetings all-time against Maryville and won the earlier match-up this season. The Panthers beat the Saints 86-59 on Jan. 3 at the O'Reilly Family Event Center behind 23 points from
Jason Montgomery and 18 from
Conley Garrison. DU led 16-4 early and took a 44-26 lead at halftime.Â
Â
Saturday's game concludes a three-game week for Drury, but the Panthers have a similar schedule next week with three more contests. Drury travels to William Jewell on Tuesday for a 7 pm game. The Feb. 2 game was originally scheduled on Dec. 5 but postponed due to issues with the COVID-19 virus.
Â
Garrison shoots up to 13th on all-time scoring list
Drury guard
Conley Garrison moved up three spots on the program's all-time scoring list. Garrison enters Saturday's game with 1,583 career points. On Thursday, the senior from Bolivar passed Gail Fredrick (1965-69), Brent Stuckey (1971-75), and Chris Mortellaro (2000-04) as part of his 27 point game against Missouri S&T.
Â
Garrison enters Saturday's game 15 points behind Tom Deffebaugh (1981-85) for 12th on Drury's all-time scoring list.
Â
