RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.— Drury University's
Hunter Baird and
Beau Browning earned a first-place finish at the Major League Fishing tournament at Lake Dardanelle near Russellville, Arkansas, last weekend. Drury's
Cole Breeden and
Nathan Fideldy also had a seventh-place finish in the single-day event that featured 133 boats.
Baird, a junior from Salina, Kansas, and Browning, a Hot Springs, Arkansas native in his sophomore year, caught their limit of five fish weighing a total of 16 pounds, 10 ounces. They took first in the event over a boat from Tarleton State that brought in 15 pounds, three ounces.
Breeden and Fideldy caught a total of 12 pounds, seven ounces, with the five fish they landed to finish seventh.
Drury's
Sam Engelmeyer and
Jake Peck came in 44
th with catching three fish totaling six pounds, six ounces, while
Clay Henderson and Zachery Ward finished 49
th landing three fish and a total of five pounds, 14 ounces. The Panthers also had
Brant Rowland and
Brycen Soliday come in 51
st with three fish totaling five pounds, 13 ounces, and
Hunter Alsip fishing with
Trenton Webster landed one fish at two pounds, five ounces, to come in 88
th.
Drury bass fishing returns to the same lake next weekend for the ACA Collegiate Bass Fishing event. The tournament starts Oct. 9 and concludes the following day.
