Lady Panthers hit Music City for Pops Duncan Classic at Trevecca Nazarene
The second-ranked Drury Lady Panthers return to action on Friday and Saturday in the Pops Duncan Classic hosted by Trevecca Nazarene in Nashville, Tennessee.
 
Drury is off to a 3-0 start after three wins Oct. 29-31 in the D2CCA Classic in Canyon, Texas. The Lady Panthers picked up wins over 16th ranked Southwestern Oklahoma St., 92-79, at West Texas A&M, 91-78, and over sixth-ranked Central Missouri 84-81.
 
Drury will take on host Trevecca Nazarene on Friday, then Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday. Following the event, the Lady Panthers will open their home schedule on Nov. 16 against 18th ranked Minnesota Duluth at 5:45 pm in the O'Reilly Family Event Center. 
 
About Trevecca Nazarene
Trevecca Nazarene will be playing their season-opener on Friday when they host Drury at 5:30 pm in Nashville. The Trojans have played two exhibitions - they lost to Division I Murray State, 95-62, on Nov. 1, and they defeated Berea, 86-38, on Nov. 6.
 
TNU went 6-6 last year in a season limited by COVID-19. They bring back three starters while adding 10 newcomers. Keeley Carter returns after averaging 16.4 points and 7.7 rebounds.  Faith Wilkin put up 12 points per game and also comes back for her junior season.
 
Drury has won all four games they've played against Trevecca Nazarene and earned an 82-54 win over the Trojans on Nov. 10, 2018 in their last meeting.
 
About Kentucky Wesleyan
Kentucky Wesleyan will also play their season-opener in this weekend's event when they take on Southwest Baptist on Friday.
 
KWU went 18-6 last season, reached the NCAA-II tournament last season, and lost to Tiffin, 70-56, in the opening round.
 
Kentucky Wesleyan is picked to finish third in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference as they return nine letter winners from last year's squad. Tahlia Walton was an all-conference last season after averaging 11.9 points and four rebounds per game.
 
NCAA-II Player of the Year is at it again
Senior Paige Robinson, last year's NCAA-II Player of the Year and Ron Lenz Award winner, is averaging 26.3 points in her first three games.
 
The Bethany, Illinois native put up games of 30, 20, and 29 in games against two nationally-ranked teams and a road game against a team receiving votes for the Top 25.
 
Robinson averaged 21.2 points last year to go along with 5.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game. She enters the weekend ranked 4th on Drury's all-time scoring list with 1,592 career points.
