Drury opens 2021-22 in Ferris State Classic
The Drury Panthers open the 2021-22 season in the Ferris State Classic on Nov. 13-14 in Big Rapids, Michigan. Drury will take on Ohio Dominican on Saturday at 4 pm (Central), then will play the host, Ferris State, on Sunday at 2 pm (Central).

This weekend's games will mark the start of the Chris Foster era at Drury as he begins his tenure as the Panthers head coach. Foster took over the helm on March 24 after Steve Hesser retired from the post after 17 years guiding the program. Foster was previously the head coach at fellow Great Lakes Valley Conference member McKendree for the three seasons and was the head coach at Truman State from 2014-2018. He is the 20th head men's basketball coach in Drury's 112-year history of the program and just the fourth since 1980.

Drury's preseason included an exhibition game on Nov. 4 at Drake. The Bulldogs, the preseason favorite in the Missouri Valley Conference, picked up a 96-49 win at home over the Panthers.

Following this weekend's game, Drury is on the road for a game on Nov. 19 at Southern Nazarene. The home opener for the Panthers is Nov. 23 on the first day of the DoubleTree Thanksgiving Classic when Drury hosts Southeastern Oklahoma State at 7:45 pm.

About Ohio Dominican
The Ohio Dominican Panthers start their season on Friday when they play host Ferris State at 6 pm (Central), then will open Drury's season the following afternoon. Ohio Dominican went 5-14 last year and will be in their 12th season competing at the NCAA-II level. ODU returns the Freshman of the Year in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, Zach Szul. Szul averaged 13.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.3 steals last year.

Their game vs Drury will be the first meeting ever between the two programs.

About Ferris State
Ferris State will open their season on Friday against Ohio Dominican, then take on the Panthers Sunday at 2 pm (Central). The Bulldogs went 9-11 last year but are picked second in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's North Division preseason poll.  Ferris State has won 20 games or more in six of the last seven years.

In 2018, the Bulldogs won the NCAA-II National Championship going 38-1 and defeating Northern State, 71-69, in the title game in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
