Lady Panthers host 18th ranked Minnesota Duluth in home opener
The second-ranked Drury Lady Panthers are at home for the first time in 2021-22 as they host 18th ranked Minnesota Duluth at 5:45 pm in the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
Â
Before the game, the Lady Panthers will honor last year's NCAA-II Runner-Up and GLVC Championship team in a ring ceremony. At halftime, Drury will retire the jerseys of former players Daejah Bernard and Hailey Diestelkamp, and the first 500 fans in attendance on Tuesday will receive commemorative t-shirts for the event courtesy HHM Facility Management.
Â
The Lady Panthers are 4-1 and coming off of a loss on Saturday to Kentucky Wesleyan, 76-75, in the Pops Duncan Classic hosted by Trevecca Nazarene in Nashville, Tennessee.
Â
Minnesota Duluth is playing their season opener on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have played two exhibition games and won both: 91-22 (not a misprint - that was actually the score) over College of St. Scholastica on Nov. 2, and 57-40 over Bethel (Minn.) on Nov. 6.
Â
Minnesota Duluth went 14-2 last year in a season shortened by COVID-19. The Bulldogs reached the NCAA-II Tournament, where they defeated Emporia St. 76-70 in the opening round, then lost to Nebraska-Kearney 65-57 in the Central Regional semifinals.
Â
UMD returns 13 players from last year's team that won the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Among the returners is last year's NSIC Player of the Year, Brooke Olson, who averaged 21.9 points last year. Â
Â
Drury is 3-0 all-time against Minnesota Duluth. The Lady Panthers won the last meeting, 80-60, on Nov. 11, 2019.
Â

The Lady Panthers have won 110 of their last 114 games at home since the 2013-14 season and owned a 58-game winning streak on their court that ran from Dec. 1, 2016 to Feb. 2, 2021.
