Lady Panthers travel to Emporia State
The second-ranked Drury Lady Panthers head to Kansas to take on Emporia State at 1:30 pm on Saturday.
Drury is 5-1 and coming off of a win in their home opener on Tuesday, 65-58, over 18th ranked Minnesota Duluth.
Emporia State is 3-0, and on Wednesday, defeated Great Lakes Valley Conference member Lindenwood, 103-102 in double-overtime in St. Charles, Missouri. The Hornets started their season with two wins, getting victories over Harding, 86-68 on Friday, and Henderson State, 84-66, on Saturday. Both games were played in Joplin.
The Lady Panthers have only played Emporia State twice but have lost both meetings. The Hornets were the last visiting team to win in the O'Reilly Family Event Center until Rockhurst ended Drury's 58-game home-court winning streak on Feb. 2, 2021. Emporia State defeated Drury 74-59 on Nov. 26, 2016, in their last meeting.
Drury's other game against Emporia State came in the 2005 NCAA-II Tournament. The Hornets defeated the Lady Panthers 78-71 in the second round of the South Central Regional at Weiser Gym in Springfield.
About the Hornets
Emporia State is led by Tre'Zure Jobe, who is averaging 27 points in their first three games. Jobe was the MIAA Player of the Year last year as a sophomore and was the league Freshman of the Year in 2020.
Victoria Price is averaging 15 points and seven rebounds for the Hornets.
Emporia State went 18-7 last year and reached the NCAA-II Tournament, where they lost in the opening round to Minnesota Duluth, 76-70 in overtime, in Warrensburg. Emporia State has been an NCAA-II Tournament qualifier in 22 of the last 25 years.
The Hornets are 314-32 at White Auditorium in the last 23 years, and they have not lost to a non-conference opponent at home since Dec. 8, 2007, when Harris-Stowe, an NAIA team, stunned them 58-51.

Paige Robinson leads the Lady Panthers averaging 19 points. The senior from Bethany, Illinois, and the reigning NCAA-II Player of the Year ranks fourth on Drury's all-time scoring list with 1,627 points (89 away from Bethanie Funderburk in third), and she is second all-time in three-pointers made with 227 (28 away from Katie Pritchard's career record).

After Saturday's game, the Lady Panthers return home to host the Oasis Hotel & Convention Center Thanksgiving Classic on Nov. 23-24. Drury will take on Saginaw Valley State on Tuesday at 5:30 pm, then will face 19th ranked Union (Tenn.) on Wednesday with tipoff at 5:30 pm. Truman State will alternate with the Lady Panthers opponents on both days.
