Panthers challenge East Division leading Southern Indiana
The Drury Panthers conclude their three-game road trip on Saturday, taking on Southern Indiana, the Great Lakes Valley Conference's East Division leaders. Tipoff is 1 pm in Evansville, Indiana.
Â
The Panthers are 9-8 and winners of four straight after their 82-77 overtime win at McKendree on Thursday. Drury is in second place in the GLVC-West and is fifth overall in the league's Point Rating System used to determine the conference tournament field and seeding.
Â
Southern Indiana is 10-3 and has won six in a row dating back to Jan. 14. The Screaming Eagles are ranked third overall in the GLVC's Point Rating System. Southern Indiana's last loss came at Indianapolis nearly a month ago, and while the Screaming Eagles have reeled off six straight wins, they also had a gap between Jan. 23 and Feb. 5 when they were quarantined with issues related to COVID-19.
Â
Saturday's game will be the 25th meeting all-time between the two programs, and the series is tied at 12-12. Southern Indiana won the lone game between the two teams last year, 86-82, at Screaming Eagles Arena. Before that loss, the Panthers had won four straight from Southern Indiana.
Â
Following Saturday's game, Drury returns home to host Indianapolis on Thursday for a 7:45 pm game at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
Â
