Lady Panthers host Lewis for Senior Day
The Drury Lady Panthers return to action on Saturday as they host Lewis at the O'Reilly Family Event Center. Tipoff is at 1 pm, and before the game, the program will acknowledge their senior players.
Â
Drury is playing their first game in a week after having two games postponed due to issues with COVID-19 on opposing teams. The Lady Panthers had their game against Truman State on Tuesday canceled, in addition to Thursday's home game against Indianapolis.
Â
Drury enters Saturday's game 13-1 and ranked fourth nationally in this week's NCAA-II coaches' poll. The Lady Panthers are currently second in the GLVC in the league's Point Rating System used to determine and seed the conference tournament field. Drury has won their last three games, including a 93-64 at Southern Indiana last Saturday.
Â
Lewis is 11-7, and the Flyers are coming off of an 85-60 win at Southwest Baptist on Thursday. Lewis is in second place in the GLVC-East and trailing Southern Indiana by two games in the loss column. The Flyers are in fourth place in the league's Point Rating System.
Â
Saturday's game is a rematch of last season's GLVC tournament championship game. The Lady Panthers won that game, 77-55, on Mar. 8, 2020, in Edwardsville, Illinois, in what turned out to be the final game of the year. The win clinched Drury's fourth straight conference championship. The Lady Panthers won last year's regular season meeting, 114-63, on Feb. 6, 2020, at the O'Reilly Family Event Center. Drury leads the all-time series against the Flyers 16-7 and has won seven straight against Lewis.
Â
After Saturday's game, Drury is scheduled to host William Jewell on Tuesday at 6:05 pm at the O'. Tuesday's contest is a make-up game that was originally scheduled for Jan. 14 but was postponed due to issues with COVID-19 within Drury's program.
Â
Lady Panthers are best in the GLVC-West...again
The Drury Lady Panthers have clinched the West Division championship in the GLVC. It marks the program's 16th regular season conference title and their eighth in a row.
Â
For the last two years, the GLVC was not divided into divisions, but the Lady Panthers posted the best league record and the conference's top Point Rating System to finish on top in the league standings.
Â
Drury won the GLVC-West for five straight years, from 2014 to 2018. The Lady Panthers also captured the division crown in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, and 2012. Drury also won regular season championships in the Heartland Conference in 2005 and 2004.
Â
In the 16 years, Drury has been in the GLVC, the Lady Panthers have won a regular season title 14 times.
