SPRINGFIELD, Ill.— The third-ranked Drury Lady Panthers pulled away from Illinois Springfield in the third quarter for a 75-57 win on Thursday in Springfield, Illinois.
Drury won their sixth straight and improved to 16-1 while the Prairie Stars dropped to 10-10.
Illinois Springfield rallied from five points behind at halftime to tie the game, 39-39, with 6:11 in the third quarter. The Lady Panthers then took over going on an 11-0 run and ended the quarter with a 52-41 lead.
Drury continued the surge and built the lead to 20 midway through the fourth period.
"We got going a lot more offensively in the second half," said Drury head coach
Amy Eagan. "We were able to get the ball into the post, and we got some things in transition and starting to play downhill a little more."
Paige Robinson led Drury with 24 points and added eight rebounds and four assists, while
Azia Lynch contributed 18 points and seven boards.
Lauren Ladowski led UIS with 17 points.
Drury shot 48 percent from the field, going 29 for 61, and they hit seven of their 18 three-point attempts. The Lady Panthers out-rebounded the Prairie Stars 38-32.
UIS shot 37 percent, hitting 19 of their 51 field goals.
Drury's win marked their 32
nd straight road victory and was their third-straight game holding their opponent to fewer than 60 points.
The Lady Panthers end their regular season on Saturday with a game at Quincy at 1 pm in Quincy, Illinois.
