Panthers head to Southwest Baptist for GLVC Quarterfinals
The Drury Panthers will play their first game in 18 days as they return to the court at Southwest Baptist on Wednesday in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament quarterfinals. Tipoff is at 6 pm in Bolivar, Missouri.
Â
Drury is 9-9 and is the sixth seed on the tournament bracket. The Panthers are coming off of a 91-90 loss at Southern Indiana on Feb. 13, but prior to that last-second loss, they had won four straight.
Â
Southwest Baptist is 15-6 and seeded sixth. The Bearcats are coming off of a 79-66 loss at Truman State on Saturday, a team now ranked second in NCAA-II. SBU had won four in a row until they ran into the Bulldogs last weekend.
Â
The Bearcats won both games against Drury during the regular season with a 75-63 win in Bolivar on Jan. 21, and then five days later went the O'Reilly Family Event for an 81-46 victory. The 46 points scored by the Panthers is Drury's season-low in offensive output.
Â
Drury is 40-21 all-time against Southwest Baptist, but the Bearcats have won three of the last four meetings. Wednesday's game is the first postseason meeting between the two teams since 1987, when both teams were in the NAIA. Drury won that contest, a District 16 semifinal game, 85-75, in Weiser Gym.
Â
The winner of Wednesday's game will play the winner second-seeded Missouri-St. Louis and number seven Lindenwood. The semifinals and finals will be played at the site of the highest-seeded team that wins their quarterfinal game.
Â
Panthers in GLVC TournamentÂ
The Panthers are 20-11 all-time in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament and have won the league championship three times (2015, 2013, and 2008). Last year, they lost in the quarterfinals at the buzzer, 53-51, to top-seeded Missouri-St. Louis.
Â
Drury is 10-4 all-time in the quarterfinal round, 5-6 in the semifinals, and 3-1 in the championship. The Panthers are 2-0 in the tournament's opening round.Â

Conley Garrison moves to 11th

The Bolivar native is 11th on the Panthers all-time scoring list passing Roland Schultz (1967-71) on Feb. 4 as part of a 24 point game against Lindenwood.
