Russellville, Ark.— Arkansas Tech edged Drury for a 4-3 win over the Panthers at the Chartwells Complex in Russellville, Arkansas on Sunday.
The Panthers fell to 6-2 while Golden Suns improved to 8-3.
The two teams split the singles matches 3-3, but Arkansas Tech's win in doubles proved to be the difference. The Golden Suns won two of the three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. Arkansas Tech clinched the match with Aastha Dargude's win over
Viktoriya Zheleva, 7-5, 2-6, 6-1.
Alama Abazi won her singles match over Lea Grinberg 6-3, 6-4, to go to 8-0 on the season while Maria De La Torre also stayed unbeaten with a 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 victory over Isabella Major to move to 7-0.
The Panthers open the Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule on April 3 when they host Southwest Baptist on Saturday at 10:30 am at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
