th ranked Drury dropped their first dual in the Great Lakes Valley Conference this season with a 33-7 loss to seventh-ranked Indianapolis on Sunday at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
Drury went 1-1 in the league while the Greyhounds went to 2-0 in the GLVC.
Four of the first five matches were decided by two points or less, but Indianapolis built an early lead.
Caden Howard was edged 3-2 at 125 pounds by Noah Cantu, then
Brandon Borlinghaus lost 6-4 to Breyden Bailey to give UIndy a 6-0 lead.
Drury's
Peter Kuster squeaked out a 1-0 win over Ray Rioux in the 141-pound bout to get the Panthers on the board, but Indianapolis stretched their lead when Brayden Lowery won by Fall at 1:56 over
Sam Schultz in the 149-pound match.
Will Kuster gave the Panthers a Major Decision win with a 15-4 win over Nathan Conley at 165 pounds. Owen Butler gave the Greyhounds another win in a 10-7 victory over
Ethan Smith, and Indianapolis closed out the dual with a Major Decision victory, a Technical Fall, and a win by forfeit in the heavyweight division.
"We've got some really good young guys and we had some close match-ups that could have gone either way," said Drury head coach
James Reynolds. "Hopefully, our guys will use this experience in a positive way when we get to the postseason. I don't think the score really described what happened in the matches so I take some solace in what happened in the individual matches."
Drury returns to the mat on Wednesday when they host Ouachita Baptist at 6 pm in Weiser Gym in a GLVC dual.
