Panthers return to play and host Missouri S&T
After being shut down for two weeks due to issues with COVID-19, the Drury Panthers return to the floor to host Missouri S&T at 3 pm in the O'Reilly Family Event Center.

Drury has not played since Jan. 15 and has not played at home since Dec. 18. The Panthers are 4-9 and 1-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Drury's last game was a 78-71 loss at Rockhurst.

Missouri S&T is 9-9 and 5-6 in the GLVC. The Miners have won three straight and are coming off of a 62-43 win over Rockhurst last Saturday in Rolla. S&T is in third place in the GLVC-West.

Saturday's game is the second meeting of the season between the two teams. Missouri S&T on the Nov. 29 game 80-76 in Rolla in a game that was the GLVC opener for both teams. Julien Smith led the Miners with 16 points in the game while Alexander Srating came off of the bench to 15. Clay Gayman had 17 points and 12 rebounds for Drury, while
Malek Davis had 13 points.

Drury leads the all-time series 84-37, but Missouri S&T has won the last three head-to-head encounters and won both games in the series last year.

About the Miners
Missouri S&T has won three straight with wins over Rockhurst, 62-43, West Division leader Southwest Baptist, 75-71, and at Quincy in overtime, 90-84. The Miners had lost four straight before their current winning streak, but won four in a row just prior to that from Dec. 8-Jan. 2.

S&T features the leading scorer in the GLVC in freshman Julian Smith. The Fort Worth, Texas, native is averaging 20.3 points, is shooting 43 percent from three-point range and has hit a conference-leading 64 treys.

Missouri S&T has four freshmen in the probable starting five.

Start and Stop
The Panthers have had to reboot their season multiple times this season due to the coronavirus pandemic. Drury's original schedule had a gap between Dec. 18 and Jan. 2, but the Panthers had to postpone contests on Jan. 2 and Jan. 4, pushing their next gameday to Jan. 6. Drury has had six of their nine games since Jan. 2 either canceled or postponed. The Panthers have already had a 19-day gap and a 14-day gap between games.

Next Up
Drury is at Southwest Baptist on Monday for a 6 pm game in the first of a series of make-up contests that were previously postponed. The game was originally slated for Jan. 4.
