Drury hosts Emporia State in home opener
The Drury Lady Panthers play their first home game of 2022-23 when they host Emporia State on Saturday at 1 pm in the O'Reilly Family Event Center.

Drury, ranked 10th in NCAA-II, is off to a 2-0 start after a pair of wins last weekend in the SBU Invitational. The Lady Panthers opened with a 95-58 win over Kentucky Wesleyan on Nov. 11, then took down Trevecca Nazarene 75-66 the next day.

Kaylee DaMitz-Holt was the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week after Drury's first two games as the fifth-year senior averaged 25.5 points and made 17 of her 29 shots from the field. She also went 8 for 15 from three-point range during the weekend and was 9 of 13 from the free throw line. DaMitz-Holt had 18 points against Kentucky Wesleyan, then matched a career-high with 33 against Trevecca Nazarene. It marked the second time in her career she has won GLVC Player of the Year honors.

Emporia State started their year with a one-point win at Harding, 58-57, on Nov. 11. The Lady Hornets then defeated Henderson State 79-51 in Searcy, Arkansas, the following day.

Saturday's meeting is only the fourth game ever between the two programs. The Lady Hornets have won two of the three previous games, with the Lady Panthers' only win in the series coming last year in a 96-68 win at Emporia State.

After Saturday's game, the Lady Panthers are back on the court on Tuesday and Wednesday when they host the Oasis Hotel & Convention Center Thanksgiving Classic. Drury takes on Cedarville on Tuesday at 5:30 pm, then fifth-ranked Ashland on Wednesday at 5:30 pm. Truman State will open play each day of the event as they will face Ashland on Tuesday at 1 pm, then Cedarville at 1 pm on Wednesday.

Opening O'Reilly
The Lady Panthers have won their last 11 home openers and, since moving to the O'Reilly Family Event Center in 2010-11, have gone 11-1 in home openers. Their lone loss in a home opener was the building's opener on Nov. 13, 2010, when Drury fell to Northeastern St. 52-39.

Drury won their first home game last season in a 65-58 victory over 18th-ranked Minnesota-Duluth on Nov. 16, 2021.

The Lady Panthers went 16-0 at home last year and have won 24 straight on their home floor dating back to a loss to Rockhurst on Feb. 2, 2021.

Drury has a 154-15 record at the O' and is 72-1 at home since 2017. Only two visiting teams have beaten the Lady Panthers in O'Reilly since 2016, and Emporia State is one of those two squads. They won 74-59 at Drury on Nov. 26, 2016. The Lady Panthers won 42 straight home games after that loss.
