ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The seventh-ranked Drury Lady Panthers pulled away from Maryville in the second half and came away with a 74-56 win on Saturday in St. Louis.
Drury improved to 7-1 and 3-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Saints suffered their first loss in the league as they fell to 5-3 and 3-1 in the GLVC.
The Lady Panthers built a 34-21 lead at halftime, then pulled away in the second as guard
Kaylee DaMitz-Holt provided an offensive spark. The graduate student scored 15 of her game-high 19 points in the second and added six rebounds, five assists and two steals.
"I thought we did a good job today containing a lot of their weapons," said Drury head coach
Amy Eagan. "They have a good inside and outside presence and can really shoot the three. I thought overall we did a good job against them."
The Lady Panthers held Maryville to just 3 for 17 shooting from three-point range and the Saints went 21 for 53 overall from the field for 40 percent. Drury also forced 22 turnovers and 23 points off of those miscues.
Alana Findley added 17 points and six rebounds for the Lady Panthers, while
Allie Clevenger contributed 12 points.
Drury shot 43 percent in the game, going 29 for 67 and was 7 for 15 from three-point range.
Antoinette Mussorici led Maryville with 17 points and four assists
The Lady Panthers return to action on Tuesday when they host Science & Arts (Okla.) at 11 am at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
