Lady Panthers host Drovers on Kids Day
Drury hosts Science & Arts (Okla.) on Hiland Dairy Kids Day at the O'Reilly Family Event Center on Tuesday at 11 am. More than 2,500 elementary school students from across southwest Missouri are being bussed to the game.
Â
The Lady Panthers, ranked seventh in NCAA-II, are 7-1 and are coming off of a week that saw them go 3-0. Drury opened the week with a 65-36 win over Missouri S&T on Nov. 28, then won road games at Missouri-St. Louis, 72-55, on Thursday, and at Maryville, 74-56, on Saturday.
Â
Science & Arts brings in a 9-0 record and are receiving votes in the NAIA national poll. The Drovers won two conference games last week with a 66-54 win at home over Southwest Assemblies of God University, then edged North Texas at Dallas 70-65 on Saturday. Based in Chickasha, Oklahoma, Science & Arts is a member of the Sooner Athletic Conference and went 22-11 while advancing to the second round of the NAIA national tournament.
Â
Drury's
Kaylee DaMitz-Holt leads the team in scoring averaging 16.5 points. The graduate student from Preston, Missouri and Skyline High School is shooting 38 percent from three-point range, having gone 16 for 42. DaMitz-Holt is also averaging 3.4 assists and 2.1 steals.
Â
Following Tuesday's game, the Lady Panthers return to conference play and take on Quincy for a 1 pm game on Saturday in the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
Â
Findley nearing 900Â
Drury forward
Alana Findley is closing in on 900 career points. The senior from Fair Grove needs just 13 points to get to that milestone. Findley is 113 away from 1,000 career points and would become the 21st player in program history to join the 1,000-point club if she can reach that mark. She already ranks 14th on Drury's all-time rebounding chart with 483.
Â
All-Time SeriesÂ
Tuesday's meeting is the first game in program history between the two teams.
