ST. CHARLES, Mo.– The Drury Panthers won two of three matches and won the consolation title to finish fifth at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Dual Tournament in St. Charles, Missouri, on Saturday. The event was the first-ever dual tournament conducted by the GLVC.
 
Drury lost their quarterfinals dual to host Lindenwood, 27-13. Brandon Borlinghaus gave the Panthers an early lead when the 133-pounder pinned Kalen Napier in 6:09. Drury dopped the next two matches by decision, but Lebanon product Trevor Christian defeated Anthony Michaels 8-2 to pull the Panthers closer. The Lions went on to win three of the next four matches as Drury's Kolby Estes got the team's lone win down the streak with a 12-2 Major Decision over Zach Russell at 184 pounds.
 
The Panthers bounced back win their consolation round match 46-6 over Davenport. At 149 pounds, Sam Schultz pinned his opponent in 51 seconds, and Christian picked up his second win of the day at 157, winning by Technical Fall. Will Kuster, a 165 pounds, also won by Fall, and Ethan Smith earned a 15-0 victory by Techinical Fall in the 174 class.
 
Drury won the Consolation title with a 29-15 win over Ouachita Baptist to end the day. Borlinghaus, Peter Kuster, and Estes all won by Fall. Estes and Borlinghause ended the day going 2-0 with a win by forfeit.
 
"We are proud of the effort level our guys displayed," said Drury head coach James Reynolds. "This team is ready to compete at the Super Regional in two weeks. It's most important at this time in the season to stay mentally focused on your process and continue to grow." 
 
The Panthers return to St. Charles on Feb. 26 for the NCAA-II Super Regional.
