Panthers make first trip to Lewis in six years
The Drury Panthers play at Lewis for the first time in more than six years as they take on the Flyers on Thursday at 7:30 pm in Romeoville, Illinois.

Drury is 8-12, 5-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and enters Thursday's game, having won three of their last four. The Panthers are in third place in the GLVC's West Division.

Lewis is 11-8, 9-3 in the league, and they are ranked number one overall in the league's Point Rating System. The Flyers are coming off of a 65-57 loss at William Jewell on Saturday.

Drury and Lewis were scheduled to play in Springfield on Jan. 8 but the game was canceled due to COVID-19 issues on the Flyers roster. The game will not be made up.

Thursday's game is the first meeting between the two teams since they met the GLVC Championship last year on March 7, 2021, in St. Louis. Lewis won that game 76-71 to get the league's automatic bid to the NCAA-II Tournament. It was the only game between the two squads last season as they did not play one another during the regular season.

Drury leads the all-time series 14-5. The Panthers haven't played at Lewis since Jan. 7, 2016, when they defeated the Flyers 71-54. Drury has four of the last five games against Lewis and the two teams have met in the GLVC Tournament in two of the last three years.

Drury's Malek Davis is averaging 22.5 points in his four games. He put in 25 points on Saturday against McKendree and dropped 20 on Southern Indiana last Thursday. The junior from St. Louis is averaging 15.7 points for the season.

About the Flyers
Lewis started the season 0-5 and were winless going into conference play on Nov. 29, but is now the number one ranked team in the GLVC. After losing their first five, Lewis won their next six, including a 90-85 win over 20th ranked Ferris State.

Niego Conner leads Lewis averaging 14.8 points, and 7.1 rebounds per game. Beau Fredricks leads the conference in three-point percentage, hitting .483 from behind the arc. Fredricks is 29 for 60 on three-point attempts.

Next Up
Drury travels to Indianapolis on Saturday for a 2 pm (CST) tipoff. Indianapolis enters the week 13-9, 7-7 in the GLVC, and they rank seventh overall in the league's Point Rating System.
