INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.— Indianapolis held the Drury Panthers to their lowest scoring total of the year as the Greyhounds pulled away for an 80-53 win at home on Saturday.
Drury fell to 8-14 and 5-9 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while Indianapolis lifted their record to 15-9 and 9-7 in the league.
The Panthers cut into a 15-point deficit in the first half and closed the gap to six with two minutes remaining before halftime, but the Greyhounds scored the last seven points before the intermission to take a 41-28 lead at the break.
UIndy stymied Drury in the second half, holding the Panthers to 25 points and 26 percent shooting from the field. DU hit just 8 of their 31 second-half attempts as Indianapolis pulled away. The Panthers shot 34 percent for game, going 18 for 53 from the field. Indianapolis hit 42 percent of their shots as they went 26 for 62.
Drury's 53 point-total is their lowest total of the year, and their 24 turnovers on Saturday were also a season-high.
"A lot of our mistakes were self-inflicted," said Drury head coach
Chris Foster. "We had way too many turnovers and we seemed unsure of ourselves offensively."
Malek Davis led the Panthers with 12 points.
Kendrick Tchoua came off of the bench to have 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Cory Miller, Jr. added 15 points.
Drury returns home to face Maryville on Monday night. Tipoff is at 6 pm for a game that was originally scheduled on Jan. 27 but was postponed due to COVID-19.
