Drury hosts Quincy in next-to-last regular season game
In the final week of the regular season, Drury plays the second of three-straight home games in the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
Â
The Panthers are 9-14, 6-9 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, and are in third place in the West Division. Drury started the week with a 77-58 win at home over Maryville on Monday.
Â
Quincy is 14-14 and 7-11 in the GLVC. The Hawks have won their last two games with a win over Rockhurst, 86-80 on Thursday, and 65-61 against William Jewell on Saturday.
Â
Drury leads the all-time series 30-19. Thursday's game will be the first meeting in two years as the two teams didn't play one another last season. The Hawks won the last encounter, 75-74 on Feb. 22, 2022 at Quincy. The Panthers have won 8 of the last 10 head-to-head meetings.
Â
About the Hawks
Quincy is under the guidance of interim head coach Pat Richardson. Richardson took over when previous head coach Ryan Hellenthal was let go by the university on Feb. 11. Hellenthal was in his fifth year leading the program. The Hawks have gone 2-0 since the move.
Â
Malik Hardmon leads Quincy in scoring averaging 13 points, while Paul Zilinskas averages 12.4 points.
Â
At home in the O'
While Drury's record is under .500 for the year, the team owns a winning record on their home court. The Panthers are 7-4 at home this season and have won four of their last five games on their court since Jan. 29. Since the O'Reilly Family Event Center opened in 2010, Drury has never had a below .500 record at home and they are 143-25 on their home court since the O' opened. The Panthers play one more home game this season with a game Saturday against Illinois Springfield.
Â
Next Up
The Panthers conclude the regular season on Saturday when they host Illinois Springfield for a 3 pm game at the O'Reilly Family Event Center. Saturday is Senior Day at the O', as the team will honor their graduating players before the game.
Â
The GLVC Tournament starts on Monday, Feb. 28. All 15 teams will qualify for the postseason with the top team in the Point Rating System receiving an opening-round bye. Seeds two through eight will host a first-round game and winners from Monday's games will advance to the league quarterfinals in Edwardsville, Illinois, on March 3 and 4.
