OZARK, Mo. – Southern Indiana held off a Drury rally as the 25
th ranked Panthers fell short 12-9 on Sunday at US Baseball Park in Ozark.
Drury took two of the three games in the series against the Screaming Eagles but saw the record fall to 15-5, while Southern Indiana returned to Evansville with a 10-7 mark.
The Panthers gave up three runs in the first inning and fell behind 8-2 in the sixth but pulled within a run of the lead in the seventh. Trailing 9-5 in the sixth, Drury scored a run on a bases-loaded balk, then
Wes Collins drove in a pair with a single.
Southern Indiana put the game out of reach with three more runs in the top of the eighth.
Collins finished the game with three RBI's, while
Aaron Mann went 2 for 4 with two walks, a run and an RBI.
Kaden Helsel belted his third home run of the year, going 2 for 5 at the plate.
Brice Stuteville (3-0) got the win for the Screaming Eagles, while
Tom Tewes (1-1) took the loss for Drury.
The Panthers have postponed their game on Wednesday against Missouri Southern State, and their next scheduled contest is Friday, March 25 when they host McKendree at 5 pm at US Baseball Park in Ozark in their Great Lakes Valley Conference openers.
